Appalachian Breastfeeding Network endorses and models a culture of inclusion, diversity, and equity that permeates all ABN activity. Because of this, Appalachian Breastfeeding Network will be awarding six (6) scholarships to ease the financial burden of attending the Advanced Current Concepts in Lactation Course held live in Gallipolis, OH on July 25-27, 2023.

ADVANCED CURRENT CONCEPTS IN LACTATION (ACCLC)21 L CERPS , 21 CEUSThis three day course explores in depth a few of the topics you need and want to know more about! THIS is the interactive program you’ve been looking for, with group work, scenarios, and lots of discussion. Topics include recent breastfeeding initiatives, supporting LGBTQ+ families, relactation, exclusively pumping parents, advanced nutrition, dysfunctional suck, why we need lactation consultants, and much more!
Pre-requisite: IBCLC or LEC's Certified Lactation Specialist Course, or other primary lactation management course.

Day One:
A look at dysmorphic milk ejection reflex (D-MER)
A deep dive into inclusivity & supporting LGBTQ+ families
Induced lactation & relactation
Supporting parents through the transition from hospital to home
What's new in safe sleep including breastsleeping research
An in depth look at the tongue function of an infant
Day Two:
Navigating the ever growing breast pump market, taking a close look at many pumps, their functionality, and pumps to recommend based off of the type of pump, motor, and longevity of the pump
Working with parent who are exclusively pumping
Breastfeeding in emergencies
Pre-term and Late Pre-term case studies
Medications overview and what IBCLCs should know
Postpartum Mood & Anxiety Disorders
Struggles in the hospital and how to navigate through those first few days of nursing
